New

Ok so I am new to MMA training when it comes to striking (Wrestling background). I am 32 and looking for a great way to loose weight that is fun for me. I bought the Pit workout DVDS and will be training Muay Thai gym. the question I have is witht the pit DVDS they show them doing pushups with gloves on so they are open finger to do the push ups. I am stupid so I bought the UFC fight gloves but don't think that is what I want.

What type of glove and brand do I need. Also why does the ufc glove have no thumb web. 3rd I got the xxl gloves but have a hard time getting my hand in the gloves without wraps how do I do it with wraps.

thanks

If youre going to a muay thai gym don't worry they will have gloves and shinguards there.

once you start ask the instructors for advice on what you need.

What I recommend is

Boxing Sparring gloves - 16oz for sparring(Twins are a decent brand)

Shinguards
Groin guard
Mouth Guard

The place I go to utilizes Bag gloves for focus mitts and the heavy bag. Generally the Muay Thai bag gloves look like this: Fairtex - Muay Thai Bag Gloves (Open thumb)

From what I've seen boxing-style bag gloves generally have a closed thumb, MT ones have an open thumb. Not sure if that's what you saw in the DVD.

Always, always, always wear wraps when you are hitting anything (pads, bag, people)

^ I totally agree with that.
