Muay thai gear?

So for most of the stuff I need I'm probably gonna go to a local place(cup, mouthguard, gloves, rope) but I need a pair of shorts.

I was looking at muaythaistuff and I have no clue what brands have what reputation and I almost bought a pair of KOMBAT shorts without knowing if they're any good.

So anything you guys can tell me is really helpful. The same goes for anything brands for other stuff I mentioned that I'm gonna buy locally.

Also, sizing. My pants are a 38 but is the sizing the same?

You can't go wrong with fairtex, windy, top king and twins. They are all top quality brands. And some short sizes do differ best just to send the guy an email and ask for the size guides

I had a pair of Kombat when I started training. They are cheap and will start falling apart a lot quicker than say Boon, Top King, Fairtex or Twins shorts. But for a starter pair they did fine for me. The size guide on that site looks about accurate. I think I had XL and I was around 34 waist back then

shorts isn't exactly science, no offense. u got mma shorts that need to be sturdy and fit extremely well due to the grappling involved. hard to review Thai trunks except for their beauty cus they're so simple in design, not much to analyze.

anyway, i have a pair of Twins thai trunks and my sis-in-law visited Thailand so she bought me a few of those traditional generic ones. They're very light so I liked that (the Twins are higher quality so a bit thick.) My fav shorts (lucky shorts) were somethin I picked up from Walmart or something, still with me after 5 years and 2 bloody mma battles.

combatsports.com often has thai trunks for $20 on sale. These guys are spot on for the brands you are looking for. Fairtex is my personal favorite, but thats more because of design preference than anything else.

I have to disagree. The cut and material can effect your mobility and ultimately effect how high you can kick comfortably. More importantly there is a huge difference in quality of manufacturing between a company like Kombat or Thaismai and Fairtex, Twins etc. Higher quality brands might last several years where as the Kombats I owned started falling apart after about a year

I'm probably gonna go with the kombat shorts I was looking at.

They're pretty cheap so if they start falling apart after a couple months it's no big deal.

you could go for the cheaper kombat ones, but they won't last long. I bought some Boon shorts, and they have lasted me 3 years so far and are so light. Twins ones you have to wear in a lot but they are a lot thicker.

muaythaihero.com

Hello

Anyone ever order from muaythaihero.com? They got some thai shorts I really like but can't find any reviews on it.

I have ordered from muaythaistuff.com they are pretty good.

Thanks

i would actually say the sizing charts aren't terribly accurate, but the shorts are really elastic for the most part. the size chart for Top King says that an L is 30" waist, but I have about a 34" waist and they're comfortable for me.

I have two pairs of top king shorts, they are awesome and the quality is great. my first pair got a little torn up from the velcro from my gloves getting caught on the embroidery, but i got another pair and i'm much more careful now.
