I'm going to start (and hopefully finish, if I get enough material) filling my CSI Powerhide bag this week, and I'm going to take pictures of the process and make a thread about filling it, so keep an eye out.

I went to Salvation Army and spent $20 on a garbage bag filled with sheets, so that will be enough to get the base of the bag pretty solid. Right now I'm waiting to see if I can get some free sheets from a similar company in the area.

Yeah i'm getting to the point of spending money for material as well....Raglady.com sells used t-shirts cut up into 18"x 18" squares for $27 for 25lbs or $55 for 50lbs. Those prices include shipping as well. I could probably keep searching for more sheets from places/relatives but I'm at the point where i'm ready to hang my bag and don't want to wait any longer. Also if i spend $27 for the last bunch it'll still be cheaper then buying a filled bag (being pre cut up is nice too). I'll post my experience in your thread as well.

That sounds like a pretty good price on clothing if you can't get it for free. I honestly don't mind spending the money that much at charity stores like Salvation Army since it's going to a good cause and all, plus it uses up their material (and honestly, I don't think too many people go shopping for sheets at stores like Salvation Army, so it frees up their stock as well).

I'm just hoping to get a good amount by tommorow, so I can spend the weekend watching football and cutting up the sheets.

I went to goodwill looking for sheets and didn't find any for really cheap...they were like 7 bucks for one sheet. Is Salvation Army all that different? There's some around here i just never checked it out after seeing how expensive stuff was at goodwill.

The closest Salvation Army in my area had a linens sections - they were selling pretty much all sheets for $2, so I picked up the ones that looked larger (didn't want to look like an ass and go measuring them or something). They also had curtains for $1-$2, which I thought about picking up since they were a thicker material. It came out cheaper than I expected though, so I dunno if they were on sale that day or what (SA has a sale on either Tuesday or Wednesday for most of their items, plus on certain days I think they have a discount for people with student IDs). I got around 8 sheets for $15 if I remember right.

I thought about asking a worker there if they had bulk cloth anywhere (like clothing that they didn't accept for whtaever reason, etc.) but I was content with my day's purchase.

There's a similar program in my local area, called 'Clothing Connection' that I have a friend who participates for (it's a volunteer program in my area) and said I can just a bunch of stuff they didn't want to try and sell or give away, so if that goes through I'll do that and then just donate $20 or so.

You should check out Ringside's Power hide bag. Ringside and CSI are sister companies. Last time i checked they were selling them filled at a rediculous clearance price (something like $150). They're not a full 6 feet (they're like 5'8") but if you don't mind the shorter bag you could save some good money.
I got the CSI one too. The rinside thaibag deal is over I believe.

I have a ringside leather bag, I wish I got the powerhide. Ringside are the best bags I've ever hit, however, i've never touched a reyes.

I got sheets and whatnot from goodwill @ .60/pound for over 50 lbs. It's more expensive if you get less than that, I think 1$ /pound at the most expensive, with another price break somewhere in-between at around 30 lbs where it's less than 1$ but more than .60. You gotta go to one of the larger goodwill centers that have the bulk clothing in these large bins.

If you have a carpet store in your town, (ones that lay carpet down or replace it) they usually have a big dumpster in the front or the back full of the carpet and foam padding that they replaced. I think the foam padding would be a good filler. After you put the sheets in, do you fill the rest up with sand? How high do you fill it up with rags?
