Muay Thai Banana Bag....which one?

Hi guys. I'm looking to buy a Muay Thai banana bag and want to stick around $200.00. Which brand do you recomend? Also, is there a big difference between a leather bag and a sythetic leather bag? Would they feel different when struck? I was thinking of getting the
Combat Sports International Muay Thai Bag. Thanks guys!

Well I think the CSI Powerhide Thai Bag - Unfilled is the best bang for the buck.MMAmuscle had them for $89.99 a while back. The Unfillied should save you some on shipping and it only cost about $20 to fill with sand and old rags.

From what I've read about heavy bags, if you can afford it, go for the leather. At your budget, vinyl shouldn't even be considered.

Also, have you taken into consideration shipping costs for your budget? It says to add an additional $25 for shipping costs of a filled bag. If you're looking at a bag that's already $220+, your final costs could easily be around $250. If you can still afford it, I'd go for it. A good quality leather bag will probably outlast you, so you shouldn't have any problems with it.

The filled CSI powerhide bag w/ shipping should probably come out a little over $200, so unless you want to buy a different brand's bag unfilled, the Powerhide bag is your budget alternative.

MMAmuscle.com is still selling the unfilled bag for $90 (CSI's site has it at $100).

I have the CSI powerhide bag from MMAmuscle and am still working on collecting the material to fill it. $89 is an excellent price.

You should check out Ringside's Power hide bag. Ringside and CSI are sister companies. Last time i checked they were selling them filled at a rediculous clearance price (something like $150). They're not a full 6 feet (they're like 5'8") but if you don't mind the shorter bag you could save some good money.

There seems to be a trend in buying unfilled. That Power hide bag is *very* popular, not to mention when you buy unfilled you save big time on shipping fees.

Probably a stupid question, but what do you guys fill the unfilled bags with? Seems like it would weigh a lot more than 100 pounds if you fill it with sand.

Sheets. Just cut them up into strips, fill it and pack it as much as possible, then once the cloth has settled, fill the remaining space. Should come out around 100 lbs.

I'm going to start (and hopefully finish, if I get enough material) filling my CSI Powerhide bag this week, and I'm going to take pictures of the process and make a thread about filling it, so keep an eye out.

I went to Salvation Army and spent $20 on a garbage bag filled with sheets, so that will be enough to get the base of the bag pretty solid. Right now I'm waiting to see if I can get some free sheets from a similar company in the area.
