Mouth Guard

has any body tryed shock dr - power ultra mouth guard?

http://www.karatedepot.com/catalog/i.../pr-mo-051.jpg

I Used Shock Doctor v2 Gel Max Mouth Guard and I could not really close my mouth with it...it was too big, and I have small under bite, its not really an under bite or over bite its even if u know what i mean...over bite is good, what i have is ok , under bite is horrible but I still can't completely close my mouth with it, and I used to get cuts inside the mouth always.....

http://www.duogear.co.uk/ebay/shock.jpgZZZ_.jpg

now I am using a cheaper mouth guard its called Sharx bite, very simple one....
fits my mouth but I am not sure if its holding my jaw well enaugh.

anyways I am thinking to switiching to Power ultra mouth guard but not sure if it be the same as Gel MAx.

Today I got an impression made at my dentists. The mouth guard will cost £35 (roughly $65) and honestly mate it is the only option if you want to compete at any level higher than just sparring. It clicks right in... tight.
I have used cheap cheap motuhguards up until now (£2.99) that you heat up using boiling water and bite- you know the ones, and Shock Dr. etc are no better than these, honestly.
Get a proper one made, I cant wait for next Tuesday when I go back to pick mine up!

I have the power ultra and really dont like the black piece that hangs down in the front of it. My lip seems to always be getting cut because this part digs inside.

I'm always shocked by the number of fighters you see in large events that are still using cheap BnB's.

I can understand that amateurs or even pro's just starting out might use BnB's if only for financial reasons, but christ for a Pro having a good mouthguard should honestly be their most important piece of gear/equipment.

Considering that the cheapest model of custom mouthguards usually run around $50-60, and provide far more support/structure than a BnB, I just don't understand why they wouldn't have made that jump already.

I know fighters probably have plenty of expenses, but a $75 custom still only represents roughly 4% that a prelim fighter for the UFC would make minimum.

As far as I know, they're both online only. You order a mouthguard, they mail you a kit that you make your impression of your teeth with, then mail it back, and you get your mouthguard in X amount of weeks (depends on how busy they are, since they usually just make them in order of when they receive the kits back).

And Smartguards definitely deserves to be mentioned along with Protech and Gladiator.
