Boxing gloves are better than mma gloves, because they protect the other guy's head. MMA gloves do alot more damage. Boxing gloves>MMA gloves

that is a rediculous statement. have your training partner smack you around for an hour with MMA gloves on you'll most likely retract that last statement. Training gloves protect both your hands and the opponent.

Actually it's been pretty much confirmed that wearing boxing gloves generates more damage to the opponent for numerous reasons. One being that the person doing the punching has more leave to use greater amounts of force without maximum possibility of breaking the hand. Another is that there is added weight when a boxing glove is worn which adds to the maximum amount of force and pressure making contact with the body.
But speaking of incorrect, this should be moved to the right forum.
And mano, you should wear boxing gloves when you train stand-up for numerous reasons. Maximum arm-conditioning, and less chance of injury being the main ones.

Man I dunno, I've been hit (hard) with both and I can honestly say that I'd much rather be hit by a big ole boxing training glove than an MMA glove. They also greatly reduce the risk of getting poked by a stray finger or thumb and keep cuts down to a minimum. Had a thumb go up my nose while training with MMA gloves once, that was less than plesant.

The biggest advantage of boxing gloves, is that they are heavier... protection issues aside, using a heavier glove for the majority of your training is going to teach you to keep your hands up. I boxed for ten years before I started training MMA... most of the people I train with keep their hands at their stomach or around their pecs, not really the best place to keep them for most fights.
A quick note on protection... the damage boxers do to each other in fighting is different than the damage done in training. The vast majority of the time, you aren't going to be going 100% in a sparring session, in which case you should be using a heavier glove (not necessarily a boxing glove, but an MMA training glove). Getting hit with any kind of glove at full speed with any kind of repetition isn't a good thing in the long run.

So have I, and I'd rather be hit with the MMA gloves. Getting poked sucks, yes, but I've never had a Boxing glove feel like a pillow to the face. At least not when worn by someone who CAN punch.

That is true, Ken threw punches but Ali never wiped out a heel hook. This mad me laugh, thanks.
