Muay Thai Ankle Support Help

Basically I am trying to figure out if there is any substantial difference between the numerous different ankle supports out there?

What I was told by many coachs is that they are not really ment to squeeze the ankle, just to keep the joint warm and prevent the skin from breaking on the thai pads/kickshield. The ones I own have extra padding on the instep (i know you don't kick there but on the pads it hits sometimes).

thats pretty much it, they dont offer a heal of alot of grip, they dont protect against any dmg cause their not padded. its basic to not let u get scratch or burns on it from working the bag, and to work the joint a bit.

I was looking at my local sports super store and they offer a neoprene ankle support. Do you think that would be any better than elastic?

They are good if you have ankle problems, however, they offer to much support and will slip on the mats.

Maybe you could just wrap them up like you do your hands?

I just use athletic tape, been using it since I started training. But you have to find what works best and is the most comfortable for you.

Yes, you should only use tape/wear supports when you have too. And when you buy a thai support is should just keep the joint warm and protect your skin.
