SSF Pro Gi Initial Review

Hey all,

Just wanted to give an initial review of the gi I bought from SSF. First of all, the guys at SSF have great customer service and had my gi shpped with a quickness. It was sent out on Monday and got here today. Ok, now onto the gi.

After opening the package I first checked out the top. Due to my size (5'10", 205lbs) I was recommended a size A3. I always worry about gi sizing because of my measurables and because I am wide through the chest and back. The thing I noticed first was how soft the material was. The gi is VERY soft. The collar is good and thick but not really wide which is fine with me. The collar reminds me of my instrucors Vulkan collar. It is not as wide as my Padilla gi but is thicker. The fit is great! The skirt area is not real short like my Padilla, which looks like the traditional Brazilian length. The sleeves are a great length and not too wide. The one major thing I like about the top is the basic look to them. They only have an embroidered SSF patch on each sleeve, but it looks classy and I love it.

The pants are awesome! They have a great feel to them and are very comfortable! The length is just right, so hopefully it doesn't shrink to much in the wash (Cold). I definitely will air dry it even though I wouldn't mind if the top shrunk just a hair.

All in all, this is a great gi for a great price. SSF has great customer service and I wish I would have pulled the trigger on this gi sooner. I like the Padilla gi that I have but I would much rather have two of these. I will definitely do business with SSF again and I am looking forward to rolling in this thing. I have no doubt it will be unbelievably comfortable. Just wanted to say thanks to the guys at SSF

Another happy SSF customer. Seems to be catching around here. You can't bet Ron for a quality product at a reasonable cost.

Stnager-Thanks for the review and I'm glad you like it. Make sure you do wash the pants in cold and hang dry, they will shrink on you.

I train in Atlanta too. There are a ton of places to choose from (finally). In Cobb county there are several small places (still high quality) to choose from, there's Unit 2 (Traven is teaching there), there's Paul Creighton (Renzo black belt) in Decatur I think, and of course there are the zillion different Knuckle Ups around and the grand daddy of 'em all, Alliance BJJ in Sandy Springs (Jacare Cavalcanti). Oh, and Impact MMA (small school in Marietta), X3 in Smyrna, and Tiger Academy (Eddie Camden). There's AMAC in Woodstock too.

There are some places in south Atlanta too, but I'm never out that way so I don't know anything about them.

Creighton is in Duluth and is a really cool guy and has a great school. There is also knuckleup mma all around the metro area now. Nice to chat to another metro guy.
