Stiff belt

today i received a white belt in the mail from sirius athletics. I noticed that the belt is really stiff...like when I finish typing it, the ends don't hang on each side...rather they stick out to their respective side...

are belts supposed to be like this...will it become more flexible?

***this is my first experience with purchasing a belt.

Oddly enough, the nicer belts tend to be wide, thick and stiff, which means they suck for being tied and always come undone. The belts that tend to stay tied and hang loose are the cheap ones that come with starter gis -- those will stay tied, almost too well. It sucks trying to untie one when it's soaked with sweat.

Until the belt breaks in, yeah. I'm not sure if there's general advice for how to break in a belt, but maybe just tossing it in a drier on tumble for a few hours might do the trick

Twist it like you are twisting a wet towel and trying to rid of the excess water. After that, try to pull it, as hard as you can until you reach the other end. After that, time will do the rest of the break in.

I got a Sirius belt for my gf and it was very stiff too at first. I twisted the shit out of it and after a few weeks it started to break in and settle. I also tied the belt a few times and made it really tight and did it over and over again just to start to loosen the material.

Washing and drying your belt is the third worst thing that people often do with their belts, just have some patience and let it break in....
