Looking for a new gi

Hey guys

I'm 6'0" and 187 and I'm continuing to lose weight. I'm looking to get a competition gi. From what I've read I want something with a thick collar and just general thickness since it's harder to control the gi. At the same time, I don't want it to be so heavy that it will bump me up to a higher weight class. My instructor told me about mkimonos.com, kf fighter and a double weave atama. I'm not looking for anything flashy simply because I'm not that good.... yet. I believe an A3 would be a good fit for me, but I do have large thighs, so that might need to be taken into consideration for pant sizing. I didn't find much on m kimonos on this site and it's hard to get kf figher gi's. I'd like to know everyone's opinions on these gi's or any other ones I should consider. I'm trying to keep this sub 200, prefer the 150-175 range. Thanks guys for the info.

I've been training for 3 months. But I tend to do about 8 hours, sometimes 10 hours, of jiu-jitsu a week. I know it hasn't been not a long time, but one I'm tired of washing my two gi's so often. A third one will allow me to not have to wash them mid week. But I did see someone with a double weave atama today, and it was very difficult to grab. Thanks for the advice on the single, I'll look into it.

check out the gameness platinum too, awesome gi. Thick lapels, very sturdy but not ridiculously heavy or hot.

Any Atama gi wis quality, double or single weave. If you do buy a gameness I would suggest the platinum, I bought a basic one and it lasted for about 1 year before the quality really started to diminish.

Koral Gi's are also excellent, the classics are a bit cheaper than the competition ones but last just as long. Though IMO Atama win every time.

Atama is top notch! Gameness is pretty good quality wise but I am not a fan of the huge patch on the back. I don't roll a whole lot and basically suck so I don't like to get all flashy either. <cough>Like Foz & his pink gi <cough> . Koral is good stuff too.

I have a Gameness Platinum and a Koral MKM and I LOVE them both. You can't go wrong with them unless you're worried about them getting too big since you're losing weight. Keep in mind they're preshrunk.

I'm an HCK fan. Very cheap, very durable, not flashy at all.

Though it is a big thick for some people's taste. (I have the single and the double.....the double is like frickin' plate armor, LOL)
