Gear & Equipment Discussion Did I mention that the gear you use is cheap and flimsy?

Looking at buying a bunch of Hayabusa gear, could use advice!

Some background on me:

6 foot, 180lbs. I've been huge into fitness for years, lifting and doing cardio. I've recently been getting into kickboxing, primarily for fitness. I installed a EVST MMA bag with anchor in my basement and am in the process of installing EVA flooring too.

I currently own Harbinger bag gloves(HARBINGER WRIST WRAP BAG GLOVES > What's New > Title MMA), but love the look of Hayabusa gear and have heard excellent reviews.

I was debating on the bag gloves vs. the sparring gloves. This will be only for heavy bag use. I like the idea of a heavier glove so I get used to the weight. With those, I wanted to get their shin guards, as I assume that since I want to protect by hands with gloves, I should have some protection on my legs as well.

How does this sound so far? What would you recommend?

Will you be sparring or just doing bag work?

No point in hitting a bag wearing shin guards.

lol. you do not need shin guards for bag work. You do not need SPARRING gloves for bag work. If you want a heavier glove then get a training glove rather than a bag or sparring glove.

Currently bag only. I used to attend a gym but am in the process of building my own right now.

i use the hayabusa 16 oz "sparring" gloves for bag/pad cuz the padding is really really compact and unforgiving..that said theyre amazing in the wrist support which is vital for bag work. also i like the 16 oz weight for conditioning the shoulders and for building speed and power.

In all fairness Hayabusa's sparring glove is actually really good for bag/pad work.

Since you are only doing bag work, you don't need shin pads.

Based on my background, what type of gloves/gear would you recommend? This is primarily for bag work for exercise/cardio. The Harbinger gloves I use now are great, except I cannot wrap my hands and my knuckles and fingers are taking a beating.

it sounds like you are just into "boxercising"?.. if that's the case you'll do fine with bag gloves. the hayabusa ones do look very nice.

look into the triumph ones too. they're pretty sick as well.
