My first 2 weeks of heavy bag workout - loving it

So I got a 70lb used canvas heavy bag for $30, got some sand bags in the middle of it, effective making it a 85lb bag right now. Then picked up some Top Contender Super Bag gloves and wraps for a total of about $40 including shipping.

I LOVE working out on this bag. I have just been watching online videos and looking at myself in the mirror to try and get proper form and I haven't been trying to murder the bag too hard (plus the bag appears to have some nice softer spots towards the top where it has been beat on). Do you think I'm going to go jog on a boring ass treadmill for 25 minutes at 10pm at night?!? No, but I can't wait to get out and workout with the bag, working on differents combos, feints, jukes, etc. What a great fun workout so far. The only thing that makes me quit is that I physically get tired and am dripping with sweat, not boredom like riding a stupid exercise bike.

Any tips would be appreciated too.

Get Bas Rutten's all round workout CD. He calls out combos, punches and defence with 2 or 3 min rounds with 1 min optional rests. It is awesome! I started using it 2 weeks ago for my bag workouts and love it. I feel you on the cardio though, I hate running and this is actually fun.

I agree 100% Well worth it and it is fun. Helps with speed, power and especially conditioning.

Another recommendation for the bas mma workout cd's. They are great to use on the heavybag. The workout is far from boring and the all around fighting cd is a real kick in the balls.

I think I will have to check them out them. Although I really don't have any place to do any groundwork as my whole house is hardwood floors. Besides I don't have a training partner or anything either. But I could use more ideas on workout and standup on the bag.

It's wierd, it appears I can handle the heavy bag equally well in normal and southpaw

I'm totally right handed and have never really been good with anything using my left hand, and have never sparred so I'm sure technically I'm not very sound as a southpaw. But when I work the heavy bag I can do both stances equally as well. In fact I prefer to have my right leg forward, I feel slightly more natural and more stable like that....let's say 45% left forward and 55% right foward Is that wierd? And like I said, I'm not bragging or anything b/c I have no technique on either side really
