Gloves for a new fighter
So I've been an MMA fan for a while, but I wanted to learn and train a little bit of the basics. I just bought a striking bag and now I'm looking for some gloves for help protect my hands. I had shoulder surgery six months ago so I'm not looking for some heavy training gloves. Basically I'm just looking for something to help protect my hands and wrists since I'm also a college baseball player.
I did a search of past threads and people seem to suggest these two

I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on which was better or if there were any other types of gloves that I should look into purchasing. Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

Hey Diesel,
I am a HUGE fan of the CSI TG4 MMA Training Glove.
Nearly the entire MMA gym I train with uses these, and it is by far one of my strongest sellers.
-Come to think of it, I don't think that I've ever heard a negative comment regarding either pair of gloves you are looking at.

I personally prefer to go with the original and official glove of Shooto - www.ouano.com if you intend on using Shooto style gloves that is.
www.ssfgear.com makes a nice shooto glove too

do not use mma gloves for bag work. if your serious about training get some 16/18/20oz's depending on your size.

I apologize - when I read I must have missed the part about heavy bag work. If you repeatedly (sp?) use MMA/Grappling gloves with decent power on a heavy bag you are risking injury, especially as mentioned to your wrists.
I would certainly get a nice pair of bag, boxing, or muay thai gloves for the bag - and keep MMA/Grappling gloves for when you're on the mat.
