I'm guessing you cut and paste this from another forum?

I really like the everlast weighted ones, as much as people say that any 3 dollar jump rope will do, the weight gives me a more steady pace.

Weighted handles don't do anything IMO... if you can find one of the thai style ropes with wood handles and the weighted tube rope those are the best if you want more of a workout than just warming up.

I boxed for ten years and used a cheap vinyl rope. IMO, Target sells the best jumpropes of this kind.

A lot of boxers also use leather ropes, but I've never understood why. A lot of people use ropes with weighted handles, but most people jump rope as a warm up activity and not to get a workout, there's no reason to get yourself tired before you even start. Heavy gloves are good to help you learn how to keep your hands up... heavy handles on a jump rope to... teach you how to keep your hands low? Doesn't make much sense.

The thai style ropes are evenly weighted, not just on the handles, but the whole rope... it's not like those stupid heavy ropes that are filled with sand and weigh like ten pounds that serve absolutely no purpose at all though. This will give you a good forearm workout.

Anyway... I'd just go with the cheap vinyl thing.

That is the only rope I have ever used that moves fast enough to give me a workout.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think jump ropes differ that much. What you see is what you get when you see it in the store or online.

Wrong. Some are light and smooth for a slow easy skip, some are heavy and fast for a faster harder workout. Some have weighted handles to work the arms and shoulders more. You can get shorter ones so that you have to bring your knees up higher, you can get longer ones so that you have to stick your arms out farther to skip, and therefore work different muscle groups.

No, there are MANY different kinds of jump ropes.
