Isami BJJ Gi Review Updated

Well i just got my order in from ChokeSports.com. I ordered the White BJJ Gi double weave. First off I would like to say that Chokesports has one of the best customer service ever, much like Luciana @ Mkimonos.

Shipping:
It was fast, took 4 days for international, not to mention the delay of a week and a half due to Golden Week in Japan. Delay wasn't their fault, although I wish they notified me that Golden week was coming up.

Packaging:
Shipping in a big plastic type envelope. The Gi itself has two plastics to protect it from shipping, a white ISAMI plastic, and inside is a clear plastic that buttons up to store the Gi when not in use

Kimono:
now onto the Gi. because it was a double weave i was expecting the gi to be heavy, when the mail carrier came and gave me my package the envelope was extremely light. i opened it up and sure enough it is a double weave. Lisa Andersen told me about the feel of the weave and i agree with her 100% it feels extremely soft! She said that the Japanese Weave is softer than the Chinese Weave. It's soo soft I would use without shirt or rashguard. The gi's come in many sizes and half sizes too to perfectly fit any individual. Lisa recommended me a size 5 which is similar to the Brazilian A2, sleeves seem nice but the length is too long. I can update you once i shrink it.

Shrinkage:
Well I shrank it and now it's a near perfect fit! A couple of uses and washes and I'm sure it will be perfect. According to the site, the shrinkage is as followed:

JACKET SHRINKAGE: vertical 2%, horizontal 4%
PANTS SHRINKAGE: vertical 2%, horizontal 1%

Sleeves did not shrink as much, which is good because it's a good size to begin with, Vertical shrinkage was perfect.

Overall:
Seems to be a great gi. You can get it without the chest patch for $135 or with for $145, they gave me the patch for free AND a $10 discount because i told them i was hesitant in buying a new gi i've never tried. If you choose the option with chest patch, there is also a patch on the back tail, which i didn't get. Shipping is pricey at $54, but what do you expect, it's international shipping and extremely fast. I paid a total of $179 for the gi which includes shipping. Very Pricey, but seems to be worth it as of yet. I will update this again once I use it.

agree w/ kid
one of my favorite gis period
fit is also right on i am one of those in between sizes where a-3 is a dress but a-2 is a body suit. so 5L fits me perfect.

only other company that caters to that size is Isami, Koral, and Dragao

hey let me know about the shrinkage, and does it shrink only once and then stays like that or does it keep shrinkign after washes? this store that is in new york is getting these gis. I called them up and they said in a couple months theyll have them

www.discountmas.com

their stuff is cheap so im hoping the gis are cheap too and theyre pretty easy with replacing(i bought a gi from there before)

exactly the same here, because of my height and weight, i'm in between sizes. tall and skinny.

Isami has soo many sizes. Luciana from M Kimonos would make me a custom she said also.

i'm in love with the material... can't wait to roll in it tonight. it feels sooo soft!
