Instep protection

When kicking the heavy bag, I get the skin of the instep of my foot torn off and it takes too long to heal. I have noticed some MMA fighters, like Frank Mir, have something that goes around thier foot. It looks like it would be perfect for what I need.

What are these called?

PS: I am not talking about a shin pad.

Yeah, that's all they are. Pick 'em up at CVS or Walgreens.

Check out SSFs site. He has some cheap ankle slips that he makes and sells for cheap.

I am not a fan of ankle supports while kicking because they have bigger ends at the top and bottom that dont feel too great when kicking, at least for me, they annoy me on my right foot. The ones I have are from Ringside.

Annoyance is probably better than skin comming off.

I'd reccommend trying something like vaseline, gauze and then taping it up.
