Washing Gloves and Shoes question..

Hey guys, just curious about what methods do most of you use when washing wrestling shoes and leather boxing gloves?

I have zero experience with wrestling shoes, so I can only offer advice regarding gloves:

NEVER throw your gloves into a washing machine...in fact, never fully immerse your gloves into any liquid...

If they stink try febreeze anti-microbial (orange capped bottle)...or maybe some spritz lysol or a VERY small amount of bleach dissolved into some water...make sure to let air-dry...

Good preventative maintenance for your gloves:
- Always air dry after using...All I do is leave mine open-side up and in a well-ventilated room and they dry pretty quickly and don't stink at all...
- NEVER EVER leave them in your gym bag...they'll never dry that way and little critters that you don't need living in there will start to proliferate...
- You CAN wipe down the outside of your gloves with a disinfectant (lysol or bleach solution)...make sure to let air-dry and then wipe down again with just a cloth to get rid of residude...
- You CAN spray some febreeze or other disinfecting spray inside the gloves...also make sure to air-dry...
- Many people recommend glove-dogs or puttings cedar chips (the kind you get for a hamster) into a sock and stuffing them into their gloves to deodorize/help dry quicker...I've never tried it, but I've heard good things about using this practice...

Above all, unless you haven't noticed, THE most important thing you should do is just air out your crap after training in it...it won't make it smell like roses or "keep the new smell", by any means...but it'll sure as hell help prevent MAJOR odors from developing on your gear...

...and just another quick bit of advice...if you insist on leaving your gear in your bag (or worse, in your bag in the trunk of your car...like some people I know)...then have the decency to put it into one of those "mesh" gym bags (or just do what I started doing and get a mesh laundry bag...you can get those for like $2.00 at wal-mart)...it'll allow air to get to your gear and funky dampness to get out of your gear...

Best of luck...

That's cool because after training, as soon as I get home I get all the stuff out of the bag, so it dries out and to avoid the smell also.
