Howard Combat Kimono - Any Experience?

Moinsen,

Whose wearing those? Any Experience? I heard a lot of good stuff about them.

Any Experience about the ordering?

I owned a HCK when I first started BJJ. I loved it. I consider it really similar to the basic atama gi's. But then again that was 4 years ago when I had it.

the gi's I have only heard good things about, the shorts are great, the shirts are great. Howard was the first person I dealt with in the G&E world, many many years ago, cant say nicer things about him

I own the cheapest freaking HCK you can buy...standard single, unbleached...best kimono EVER...it's super tough and fantastic quality...I haven't trained BJJ much this past semester, but people complimented me on it all the time when I trained regularly and were freaked out when I told them it was literally half of what they paid (like $60.00 with shipping)...

For a beginner, I'd highly recommend it...it's a bit "rough", but honestly, it's marginal and you get used to it...it's also a bit heavy, but meh...I live in, FL...I'm used to the heat...and you're gonna sweat in competition and training regardless, so what's a bit more sweat...

Overall...I honestly believe, dollar for dollar, it's the best kimono you can buy...

I'd get it either directly from Howard himself at www.howardliu.com (he'll call you and speak with you to assure correct sizing and to give care tips...talk about customer service!) or www.jiujitsuprogear.com (quick and cheap shipping)...

Best of luck...

Howard is super nice, very quick to reply to emails, quick to ship. I don't like the cut of the single competition gi, I feel like there's far too much fabric in the armpits. The prices are pretty unbeatable though.

I have only ordered a rasguard from him, but I can attest for Howard's customer service and he ships fast.

There is also something reassuring about actually corresponding directly with the people you are ordering from - as opposed to some faceless corporation.

have owned the white standard single for about 6 months now and its been solid. it is a bit heavy and stiff compared to the atamas most everyone else i train with owns, but its also a helluva lot cheaper. i bought it directly from his website. excellent customer service.
