How to tie your Gi waist belt (not rank belt)

Does anyone have any techniques or tips relating to tying the Gi belts? No matter how I tie mine they consistently come off and I'm left hoping my ass is not showing. I have both the traditional ties and the rope versions.

Do u mean tie onto the loops on the wasteband? (never tried that before).

I did try the shoeless tie technique. it does feel a bit better but it does still come off eventually. I guess I'm going to have to learn some boy scout knot trying tricks.

no put the strings through the hoops at the front --then tie it tight --one under one over---then finish it off how u tie ur shoes--but make it really tight

my fuji pants kept falling off even when i tied them super tight in the front so i ended up cutting slits back (the track where the drawstring goes through) and slipping it through and tieing it from behind.

I know that sounds confusing but it could make your gi pants never fall off

double knot if you think its worth the hassle of untying it at the end of class.

To make it tighter try this:

with your pants on lay your back on the floor, mat etc.

Take the two sides of string into your hands

Lift your hips off the floor

Pull the strings back and forth, like you normally would, to get them tighter.

With your hips still in the air and still pulling the strings tie them as tight as you can.

Basically, by doing it this way you remove the friction that prevents you from getting the pants tight enough. They get much tighter and shouldnt come off this way.

Bingo. This is the way to do it.
