How do you keep your white gear clean?

I usually avoid white gear as it can be a problem to keep it white but I just couldn't resist Nogi Ghosts.

I hand wash them in cold water with a soft detergent (to avoid discoloration), as I do most of my gear, but it doesn't seem to be enough to restore the "whiteness" of the white parts.

What is your experience regarding white board shorts? Should i switch to machine-washing? I prefer to hand wash my gear because I find it more practical than having to wait for the next load of laundry for the machine.

I've always machine washed my ghosts, cpl. I throw in a little Biz along w/ the usual detergent, and have not experienced any discoloration.

are you getting stains, or just an overall fade?

I have stain problems. Its hard to get rid of hardcore stains without using some strong detergent or stain removal and in my experience that equals discoloration. I guess I'll have to live with it. I was hoping someone knew a revolutionary way of getting rid of stains

The trouble is, Ghosts look so nice I feel like crying when I get them all dirty rolling
I gues white Inspirits would be a big no-no for me...

I have White Spec 1s and Spec 2s by Inspirit and I use them more than my other shorts (I should mix it up more, but they're so nice). I just machine wash them and they're still very chalk white. The black trimming is a bit faded at this point, but not anything you can tell from more than 5 feet away. I've even gotten some blood on them and it has washed out. For blood, use your fingernails to scratch it out as much as possible before you through it in the wash. I haven't gotten like tons of blood on them, but I've gotten some quarter sized spots here or there in training and there's no sign of them anymore on the shorts. It may have somehting to do with the material of the shorts.
