My training partner just got one. I will try and get him to write a review and post it on here. For now though, I can just give you my observations:
This gi really is thin, almost as thin as my old karate gi. When you hold it up to the light it is almost translucent. It is made out of multiple panels, some double (around the collar, on the knees, etc) and others single (eg the skirt). The hemp is mixed with some cotton, so it is not too rough, and grows softer with wear and washing. The gi is pre-shrunk and can be warm washed and dried. It seems pretty strong and well made, though 2 weeks really isn't long enough to tell how well it will hold up.
The collar is wide, but fairly supple, so it leaves you a little vulnerable for chokes. The bleached version comes in a slightly off white color that looks pretty good (natural is also available, with blue and black coming soon). There are no patches on the gi, just embroidered green and yellow Ground Force Kimonos logos on each shoulder and ankle (on the front for one pant leg and the back of the other). I really like the low key look of this gi.
Overall, it is definitely the thinnest gi on the market today. Looks really good, and Ground Force's customer service is great (especially when buying through Ron at SSFgear.com). The hemp appears pretter strong, but we will not know about its durability for a few years, when we will be able to see how it ages.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

is there any advantage or even a point to making a gi in hemp? does it allow for something cotton cannot provide?
or is it to be cool?

Is it available in custom sizing, like an A-5, and what is the shrinkage? Thanks.

Let me answer that one.
because of the tensile strength of hemp(4x's stronger than cotton), this allows for a very thin yet strong weave of material. it's almost pajama comfortable. this gi breathes very well. the porous nature of the fiber and the canvas weave allows this. Hemp is also anti-microbial, wich means mold and fungus can't grow in it. I designed this gi for comfort and durability.
I live in a warm climate so I also had this in mind. I don't particularly like stiff collars so I opted for a more flexible comfortable filler. If you are looking for a comfortable, breathable, yet durable gi, our hemp gi may be perfect for you. I'm doing size
A5 very soon, along with blue and black.
Thanks to Scorcho for the review.
