help with buying a cup

I'm like 5'10" and 145 lbs and I'm like 8 1/2 inches... and I just bought a cup for the first time that was a large(wasn't sure what size to get) and it's kinda uncomfortable. It hits my thighs and stuff...I don't know if it's normal or what. And my junk is ok in it but the rest is kinda in the way. So am I ok and how should I buy a cup? And since I need it mostly for grappling I need to be able to move alot with it. I don't even know how size is even measured or any thing.

Buy a steel, thai style cup. They are, by far, the most comfortable cups I've worn. Wear it with a jock strap and compression shorts over it, and you'll be fine.
I got mine from MMA Gear, MMA Gloves, MMA Shorts, MMA Shirts, MMA Equipment at CagesideMMA.com

Yep. Trust me dude, I took a full-on knee to the balls in fight this weekend, and didn't miss a beat. Go with steel. Amber Steel is fine. The Twins XL is a monster. If your junk is..
You know what, you figure that out.
