heavybag material differences?

Aside from price differences, what have y'all found to be the advantages or disadvantages to buying a heavybag made of vinyl, durahide/powerhide, or leather? Or whatever other available fabric?

Is there a reason why you specifically would NOT buy a certain fabric? Is there a point where the savings in dollars becomes compromised by the bag quality?

Canvas is still an option, but not one I would suggest.

KO Fight Gear sells very cheap Thai bags made of vinyl, and they say that modern vinyls are just as durable (if not more durable) than leather. All their other stuff is top quality, so it wouldn't surprise me if that were true.

You can go to Ringside, Title Boxing, and Fairtex and they all have good quality 6ft. bags.

Anyone know the difference between these two 6ft bags, aside from the color? Same dimensions, same price, both synthetic leather...

Well of course the one that says its MMA is better, haven't you watched TUF

Seriously I really don't think there is a differnce. Same material, same foam liner, same dimensions, same weight. Both come with chains. Actually both are a decent buy at $99 plus shipping.

I have a very old Nevetar(vinyl) everlast bag at home(at least 15years old). And a mix of everlast canvas, leather and vinyl bags at the gym. (it pays to live 3 miles from the factory). I prefer the vinyl and leather to the canvas, but its a toss up between the leather and vinyl. the leather requires some maintence and you can't just wipe it down to clean it like the vinyl.

Yeah, I should get the one that says MMA. The other one is a "classic" banana bag so that means it's probably outdated.

Maybe the hardness or the thickness of the foam liner could be the difference, but for $99 I guess I can't go wrong.

I honestly don't think there is a difference. All I know is that I look at Title's website all the time and the MMA bag is alot newer. I think it came out a few months back. If I was going to buy one of the bags I would buy the black one because I think it looks better. If you buy one of the cheaper bags I don't think they have a liner in them. The thai bags that are $250 have a 1" foam liner.
