Heavy bag hard spot

Anyone ever get rid of a hard spot on a heavy bag?? I have a 6 month old 150lbs heavy bag and it has a spot that is hard as a rock. I took a bat to it for about 400 hits but wont go away. Anyone have any suggestions or solutions? thanks..

I have one of those too, but I like it. I make a point to punch there as much as possible.

You could try taking it down and flipping it over to shake up the contents. Otherwise you can take the contents out and restuff it. I personally like the hard parts on my bag.

You have to take the suffing out. When you re stuff it put in a 1/3 of the struff then a piece of foam another 1/3 more foam then the rest of the stuffing. The foam will keep it from packing and forming hard spots.

Thanks for the tips guys, but I would not rather take it apart. This spot seems harder than usual. I hit it with an aluminum bat and it sounds like I am hitting a fence post. It hurts to hit that spot all the way thru my pads.

My advice: don't be a pussy.

Bravado aside...wrap your hands properly, use heavy duty training gloves designed for intense/heavy workouts (minimum 12 ounce), and embrace those so-called hard spots. Hammer away at them dilligently and after some time, you'll be amazed at what happens.

I started with a 75lb bag, and then bought a 200lb monster. For the first two weeks, my hands hurt and I dreaded hitting that 200lb bag - I couldn't move it, and it seemed to have all the cushioning qualities of a concrete wall. Everything ached, from my fists, to my wrists, to my forearms, to my shoulders, to my lats. Once, I broke a knuckled, and another time I rolled my wrist badly. I gave myself just enough time to recover and went back at it.

Just a few days ago, almost five months since buying that 200lb bag, I rehung the 75lb bag and went at it for a bit: I was completely suprised by the increase in sheer punching power that I have gained in 5 months, by hammering that 200lb bag.

Stick with it.

I have a cornerman and it supposedly can't hold a bag heavier than 100 lbs, has anyone had experience putting heavier bags on a cornerman?

I dont think 6 months is a really long time so I would think it might still soften up in the next few months.

alot of times bags have Sand Bags in them for weight, and these are not always on the bottome or middle, but can be all over. If your bag has a zipper on top, just open it up and put your hand in, as long as you don't take too much out, they are not that hard to re-stuff, but check to make sure the zipper is fully functional before opening it.
