New to training, need a decent cup and other gear.
First i'd like to say whats up because this is my first post on this forum. I am beginning training for Muay Thai/BJJ and was wondering what gear you guys reccomend. I am 6'1" and around 185-190lbs. So far I bought a X0 Athletic Adult Pro cup X0 Athletic Adult Pro CS-2 Compression Short with ProCup - Dick's Sporting Goods and it doesn't seem like it would work very well. It floats around a lot and seems very uncomfortable. It seems to long and goes to far down between my legs making it hard to move around easily. What are you guys using that seem to work the best? Also, what else would be ok to use such as training gloves, shorts and what-not?

give us a better idea on the money that you are willing to spend, and most people here seem to attest to the nutty buddy as their protective cup

If you're trying to save a little coin, use the Sherdog 10% discount at my place if it helps.

Thanks a lot bro. Which shorts are longer the Atama loose shorts or the Sprawl ones? How do you go about sizing the Atama shorts as in waist wise? I like longer shorts a little better as I feel more comfortable in them. From the looks of it the Atama ones are longer. I just remembered I have some training gloves, the UFC brand ones. Those will do for now i'm sure. I could care less what the brand says on it or what anyone may think.

You definately want to make sure that the cup fits correctly. The style you bought looks fine, but make sure it fits securely. If you are not use to wearing a cup, it will feel uncomfortable at first. You want it to go between your legs, this is what keeps it from tearing your package off when you get kicked. Anyway, you have gotten some good suggestions about rashies and Shorts, I buy training gear at mmatraining Home , they have pretty good prices, but they don't have rashguards or board shorts.

I think for the cup I am going to go with the nutty buddy. The one I got moves around in the wrong places way too much, it sticks out pretty far too.
