Headgear Help- Lace vs. Hook-and-Loop

I've been shopping around for some time now, and I still can't make up my mind on which headgear I should go for. My budget is around $40. I was looking at this from Title:

http://store.titleboxing.com/classic...-headgear.html

It has a lace top and back, with a buckle on the chin. It also looks like it has nice thick cheek pads, which I like, since I don't want a broken nose. I noticed that a lot of the fightgear and everlast headgears come with hookandloop closures, as opposed to the older-styler lace closures. Which do you guys prefer?

Is this a good headgear to go with? I want to avoid the fightgear headgears because they seem too commercial/trendy to me.

Also, is the buckle on the chin a problem? I'm a bit hesitant about putting a ****l buckle against my face. It seems like it would be more durable than hook-and-loop, but a bit more difficult to get on and off. This is my first headgear (obviously), so I want one that's gonna last a while- I'm tryin to get the most bang for my buck.

Dude who cares if they are trendy. Besides, the only real trendy one is the Airmax. Their "traditional" and "mexican style" headgears both get great reviews here on sherdog and are pretty low profile.

The kofightgear one is supposed to be really good, too. Check that one out.

As for your question, I think most of us use hook 'n loop, aside from maybe the pure boxers.

You aren't going to be messing around with the back part very much... I boxed for ten years using a number of headgear with lace up backs and never had a problem. I currently use a Fightgear headgear, one of the competition models, without cheek pads, because I can't stand them. It has velcro in the back, and works just fine as well.

The KO Fightgear headgear is a beast... I bought one and returned it because I felt like I was overpadded and my vision was limited. But if your primary goal is complete face protection, then that's an excellent option.

It's hard to see exactly how the buckle is on that headgear... if it's in the center (which it looks to be) then yeah... that's kinda weird. I definitely wouldn't want to get hit on the buckle if it's up against the center of my chin. Most headgear has the buckle off to the side, and the buckle part is actually mostly over the padding itself. Like this:

I own the Airmax too and agree completely. It kicks ass and was relatively inexpensive for what you get.
