Half Guard/Quarter Guard DVD review

I have just completed watching Gustavo Machado’s Half Guard/Quarter Guard DVD for the fourth time and wanted to offer the following comments:

Personal Observations
I have never really been one for instructionals because I always seemed to have sensory overload. The way that the techniques are presented in this DVD made it easy to follow. I first watched about 20 minutes before heading to train and was easily able to perform several of the moves as soon as I started rolling (and that was no gi). I was even able to sweep bigger/senior guys that normally give me serious problems when I get them in the half guard.

I had read on here that there was some concern about the applicability of the techniques shown on the DVD when training no gi (especially the quarter guard stuff); however I found it a very easy transition. For example instead of threading the arm around your leg and grabbing the sleeve under hook the arm after wrapping it around your shin.

I wish that I had picked this DVD up earlier. The two times that I have trained since having it has already helped my game a lot.

Production
The sound quality and camera work are excellent. The techniques are presented in an extremely logical manner. Each move builds on the previous one and are all shown and explained multiple times from different angles. Gustavo also shows each mode at full speed which I found exceptionally helpful

someone who told me its the half guard but with your outer leg you hook the top thigh part(above the knee) of your opponants leg which is stuck in between yours- so you can sweep, take the back etc-

i seen alot of fighters do this like horn

does this explain it to you

if not then check out theres my thread in the grappling forum
