Groin Cup Danger & How to Fix

First let me say that I think that groin cups should be worn. But, here is a warning:

Everyone knows that groin cups are VERY uncomfortable. But, i think that they are also potentially dangerous if not designed properly. I think the bottom pointed tip can potentially damage the nerves and vessels that supply the groin. I mean, if you take a hard hit, it can drive that thing hard into those important nerves. I also think that prolonged wearing can cause problems just like a bike seat does (erectile dysfunction, etc.). PLUS the tip is just really uncomfortable and irritating. But, getting kicked there without a cup can be even worse.

SO, i suggest cutting the tip of your cup off so there is a channel for the tissue to run through so it can't get slammed into the nerves. And, it makes it less irritating and more comfortable. I used a hack saw and cut in an inverted "U" shape and it seems to work pretty good and is much more comfortable. Yes, there is less plastic there protecting that part, but it is up under and isn't really exposed or in danger of getting hit.

Bike riders do that. But I'd be weary of cutting your cup. You might leave a sharp edge and slice something else

The only cups I've used are Twins Steel Thai cup and recently Shock Doctor compression shorts with Bioflex cup. Don't have a problem with either of them from a comfort level. What cups are you talking about to begin with, that you can cut the bottom part off?
