Gold's Gym 20 lb Weight Vest - Walmart - Would you recommend?

I know Walmart doesn't exactly imply quality, but this vest looks pretty decent for the money. I was going to get a 40lb vest, but those were really expensive, and that much weight may be overkill. Though, I'm sure if I want to I can cram a little extra weight in assuming the weights don't completely fill the pockets.

Here's the link

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...30660805102498

I was wondering if any of you have used it and what you think about it.

Thanks

I was gonna get that one, but Ringside has one in their current catalog $10 cheaper and looks better quality. I should have it end of this week and test it out this weekend.

If you can try it before you buy it.

The weight depends on what you want to use the vest for. If your going for strength and power the heavier the better. If your going for speed and conditioning the lighter the better.

From the look of the design I think the vest is going to chaffe and irratate your neck a lot. Again, you won't know till you try it on.

They don't have it on their site...annoying.

I was also looking at the 40 lb weight vest on Titlemma.com, (The Title version is the same as the 40 lb Everlast, except it's red) but that one doesn't look as comfortable or as evenly distributed as the Gold's 20 lb vest (and the Mp3 player slot is kinda cool too). Has anyone used the Everlast or the Title vest with anything good or bad to say?

I actually bought this vest from my local wal-mart. It fits nicely and the straps tighten enough to where I can even use it for hitting the bag ( I know you wouldn't expect it to make bag work harder, but try it before you flame). I do personally recommend. And with the way the weights fit in the pockets, (they are ****l, not sand btw) I don't think you will be able to add any.

I've read nothing but bad things about the everlast weight vest. if the title one's the same it's safe to say your money would be better spent on weighted toilet paper.

Hmm...thanks. I'm surprised then that that vest is sold out and on backorder.

I've no personal experience but it sound like their economy line. here's a review I've found "I bought this vest from Everlast direct, hoping to use it for an extra edge during cross-training. To my utter shock, the vest tore apart in the middle of the back, just from trying it on!!. The thin nylon used on the vest is too weak to support the weighted pockets. I wanted to send it back but Everlast won't pay for shipping! Since the vest weighs almost 50 lbs to ship, UPS wanted to charge $45.00 to ship it back.

I decided to fix the tear with some tent-repair epoxy, instead of going through the cost and pain of trying to send the thing back. After curing the glue for 24 hours, the vest was almost good as new...3 days later, while ONLY WALKING with it on, the right shoulder ripped open. WALKING NOT TRAINING!!

After cussing until I was out of breath, I pitched the entire vest into the garbage bin, hammer-throw-style. Looks like I got my exercise for today.

This vest is cheap, ratty, poorly designed and flawed in every stitch. The money that I have lost from this piece of garbage has earned me the right to warn every human being on this planet to avoid buying this or any other Everlast product. I'm going to save my money and buy an XVest, the same vest athletes use in the NFL, NBA and other pro teams. It costs much more, but I learned a hard lesson in getting what you pay for.

No stars, period, good night!"
Just google it for some more reviews if you want, no sense in buying shit.

I actually bought this vest late last year during a late night Wal-Mart trip (it's about 3 minutes from my house) and I'm actually fairly happy with it. It tightens enough to where it doesn't move very much at all when you use it, and whenever I've worn it I only where a wife-beater undershirt. It also has a spot for your mp3 player, so that comes in handy. And the weights are 1 pound ****l weights that take up each pocket fully. One of the fun things I was able to do with it was to take it on a really long run and I put power bars in some of the weight pockets to eat along the way. Fun times!

Do you think 20 lbs is enough for someone looking to get a good hard workout with whatever it is they're doing (situps, running, etc.)? I'm debating whether or not I should get a 40 lb, but I really don't want to shell out the money it takes to get a decent vest at this weight.

Also, does the material seem flimsy, or does it feel sturdy enough to hold up for a few years?
