Icon9 Free-Standing vs Hanging Heavy

Hi, i'm pretty new to martial arts as a whole, and i'm planning on getting some instruction in boxing/kickboxing. But for now im trying to find the best home workout equipment. Im 6 feet and weigh 195lbs. Im torn between the decision of a wavemaster, or a heavy bag. The problem is that the ceiling in my house is only 4 inches above my head, and the rooms are too small to get a decent area to hang a bag. So some general pros and cons of the wavemaster against heavy bags would help, because a wavemaster would be more convenient, but i dont want to sacrifice the quality of the product just for convenience.

Any input at all would be appreciated, and i'd be happy to answer any questions that would help.

if u were to get free standing stay i'd rather choose the ones with a spring in the column vs the solid column attaching to the base. the ones with a spring won't shift around as much as u strike it and you won't knock it over with a hard roundhouse. Only con to the ones with a spring i can think of is that it'll be pretty tricky to pull off multiple roundhouses on it since the top portion springs around

I have found that the wave master free standing bag is fine when used with both sand and water.

I have owned one of the sprung bags and did not like it,using combos was a nightmare, there is no indication of you throwing a good shot as it is too busy bouncing around and even when filled up it used to rock around and move, bouncing on its base, and they are very soft and light to hit so there is little hand conditioning involved either.

What about a speedbag? I'm looking for a good cardio workout that'll improve my punching power and technique. I'm no monster hitter, but im pretty damn quick. Are there any collapsable speedbag mounts so that i can keep it out of the way once i'm done?

I've never had a good experience with a bag that isn't hanging. Doesn't sound like you have much choice though.
