Do You Wrap Your Hands When Using MMA Gloves?

Hello,

I was attending a NHB class for my first time... I noticed that some of the people in the class didn't have their hands wrapped when using MMA gloves... however we wern't doing any serious striking and was mainly working on the clintch and knees...

I'm thinking of buying the SSF MMA gloves and it depends on the size I order if I'm going to wrap them before use or not?

Thanks and forgive my admitted ignorance

well, people always recommend wrapping, I usually don't wrap my hands in training. it depends how hard u wanna hit the mat. Personally, I don't do it, so i wouldnt recommend it, but yeah.

I wrap my hands with the CSI MMA training gloves for bag work, I don't really need to for sparing.

CSI makes hand wraps that are designed to be worn under MMA gloves. I have never tried them. When I wrap my hands when using MMA gloves, I just don't place too many wraps on the knuckle are so they will fit in the gloves.

I've been buying from ringside way before they even carried MMA stuff and CSI is basically ringside. And the MMA handwraps are basically the Jr. handswraps with a different name on the box. lol anyways i always wrap my hands before wearing MMA gloves, however i stoped wrapping my thumb because it always got loose though rolling...

thats a good idea... i have some shorter length handwraps that would work great under MMA gloves...

My fear is that when I order my gloves from SSF that i won't know what size to get... my hands are small but with or without wraps the size will change quite a bit... so its hard to know what size will fit best with or without the wraps...

There is a size chart on the SSF website to help you.

I usually wrap, but it is probably not really necessary in training.

Send a message via MSN to SSF
You can find the sizing chart here;
http://www.scientificstreetfighting.net/index.cfm
If you order the wrong size you can always exchange them.

Thanks for this post...I am new also and just ordered Top Contender 4 oz gloves. I have no idea how to wrap...

Basically I just want to work on a heavy bag and expand upon some self-defence training...

Can anyone suggest how to properly wrap?

Thanks

Woops I just found the thread on this....but any other tips would be appreciated!
