Cleaning Soft Shin Guards

I don't have the leather/wipeable material type shin guards that most people on here seem to have. Instead, I have a version where cloth type material is covering a soft foam protector.

How do I clean these properly? Can I toss them in the washer? I can't spray and wipe them down like regular shin guards and they're starting to smell pretty bad.

i have some white cloth shin guards that i toss in the washer. those look like they can go in the washer also, but be careful because they look like they will bleed for the first few washes.

I have some el cheapos that are the same sort of thing.

You can - and really should - wash them in a machine after every use. I'm getting more and more paranoid about infection these days.

I didn't think they'd be safe in the machine since I wasn't sure what the soft padding inside was made of and whether it would last in there. Guess it'll be ok. Thanks.
