Can't get used to new mouth guard

I just got a new mouth guard because the one that I was using got stolen. (I know it is a weird thing to steal) I got a shock doctor until I could get a better one and I have to go train tonight and the damn thing keeps making me gag. What in the hell am I supposed to do?

Which one did you get? Many people on this forum (myself included) hate the Power Ultra.

I ended up getting the Shock Doctor Pro and like it.

the only thing i could think of would be to snip the edges...or wear it as often as possible (even while non contact training or lifting)....theres no real way to get over it other than wear it often....since the problem is the depth it goes into your mouth causing you to gag....one things for certain....you wouldnt make a good prostitute...haha

Trim the area of the mouthguard shorter on the inside back of the guard closest to the roof of your mouth, this area is the soft palate and is responsible for the gag reflex.

You can try putting it under hot water and remolding it a bit. That might help.

yeah as the others said try remolding it. otherwise it may just be cause you're not used to it. I know when i got my custom one from the dentist, it was making me feel uncomfortable and gagging, I had to get used to it and now theres no problems.
