BJJ rash guard VS surfing rash guard

Is there any difference in the fabric or are they the same thing?

The fabric on BJJ rashies is usually thinner and the cut is different. You can use a surf rashie for a while, but eventually I would invest in one made for fighting. If you are worried about the price, try nogi USA.

wrong part of the forum brotha

can somone move this please?

But to answer your question if you are training the martial arts rash gaurds seem to be a little more strong so they can hold up to training.

as far as thickness it all depends on who you are purchasing your rashie from.

that said I know a few guys at my gym use surfing rashies

Teh ban!!!!!

Seriously though the common consensus here is that MMA specific rashguards are lighter and more durable (if they're good) though some here train with surf gear because it's apparently cheaper.......

Yes, please move this thread to the gear discussions - I must have accidentally posted in the wrong section.

It's not a question about money - its about the fabric.

There is a surf gear manufacturing place not far from here and I was considering looking into getting a heap of fight tops made for our club, however I'm having a hell of a lot of trouble finding info on the fabrics used for each.

The fight tops I have here say they are a microfibre/lycra blend, I havnt spent much time looking into the surf type yet, I thought I'd ask here and see what people knew about the difference.

Surf rashguards are built to retain heat so the surfer won't get cold in the water. Grappling rashguards are built to release body heat and wick away sweat. So there is a fairly significant difference the materials used.

just about to say that. surfing and diving rashies are similar to dive suit material in that they keep heat in. not a good idea for rolling in or working out in.
