ZMA does not boost testosterone.

Are you sure it's the ZMA? I've not heard this, although to be fair, I am also pretty new to a lot of this stuff, but I've actually noticed less acne. That could just be that I've greatly cleaned up my diet as well, though.

I don't take it to boost test, and from what I've read the studies that said it did, mainly seemed to mention it as an insignificant amount, & more as a side effect if anything. At least that's the impression I got.

I take it along with GABA as a sleep aid because I rarely get a significant amount of sleep, so I try to make the most of the sleep I do get.

KK, does this sound about right or am I way off here?

The studies that conclude ZMA boosted testosterone were bought and published by BALCO, the original makers of ZMA. In non-biased University studies, it doesn't boost testosterone at all. Zinc on it's own helps keep testosterone levels from depleting during strenuous activity, which isn't remotely the same as boosting testosterone.

ZMA is a good supplement for recovery, because of the muscle relaxing effects of magnesium, zinc's viability to MAINTAINING test levels during strenuous activity, and it's immune system functions.

So no, not way off.

lol...I know it may not work, but it is marketed as a something used to increase strength and/or muscle mass. I doubt the ts (we'd have to ask him) is using zma to get a better nights sleep or boost his immune system.

I just make my own ZMA by buying the minerals separately.

30 mg zinc
50 mg Vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine)
500 mg potassium & magnesium aspartate

I take it for the depth of sleep you get, which is absolutely incredible, IMO. I don't always get the crazy dreams. But my sleep is more restful and deep than ever.

So? Now he knows what it's good for. What he bought it for and what it's marketed for are irrelevant. If it doesn't do what some people think, it just doesn't. Better to know the truth.

I didn't even realize that it was marketed that way. I learned about it here, so I only thought of it as something to help you get better quality sleep, thereby helping recovery.

zma is just vitamin b6 zinc and magnesium, zinc and magnesium are normally lower in active people because of current diets and the fact that athletes burn these minerals more rapidly, and b6 before sleep stimulates rem sleep which is considered the best for recover,

I sleep very well on ZMA, which is why I take it.
