Icon2 Supplemental Enzymes for Injury?

Anyone have any experience in this area? I've read a few articles scattered across the 'net regarding this; the theory is that certain enzymes in supplemental form can act as anti-inflammatories, helping to deal with musculo-skeletal injuries.

So, since I've been running like a maniac this summer, I've developed mild plantar fasciitis, and more recently, pulled something in my back while doing a vehicle extrication.

So I figured I'd give these a shot:Infla-Heal by New Roots Herbal

I think a really popular brand in Europe is this stuff: Wobenzyme

Now I don't know if it'll be any better than the standard NSAIDs like Advil, but I fucking hate being injured more than anything. I have a small stockpile of Celebrex that I'm tempted to dive into, but haven't yet.

Thoughts, opinions, experiences?

Wobenzym is not just popular in Europe, it's fared well in America as well. It's THE thing to take for inflammation, and systemic enzymes never hurt to add to a regimen period, as Bromelain also helps in breaking down protein easier, and many of the other enzymes in it also help with the digestive system. There's no down-side to taking them unless there's a food allergy.

They're especially good with soft-tissue injuries and connective-tissue inflammation. They do wonders for joint pain and unless the problem is rhumatoid arthritis, mixing them with a potent Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM formula is a very good way to go to preventing joint wear and injury.

Also, if you're having a problem with muscular consistency another thing with good results is Arnica. It's a homeopathic that assists with the fast healing of muscle trauma and bruising. Now this is one surgeons recommend to people going into and coming out of surgery to prevent extensive bruising or help heal it quickly.

And it's pretty cheap.

KK, while we're on this, should a person eat differently while trying to recover from an injury? For the sake of discussion, let's say a muscle tear in my quad.

I would. More slow-carbs like oats, more red meat (for the creatine, and if you can get grass-fed beef, for the sheer nutrient density of it), plenty greens and whatnot. Little-to-no cheating or comfort food.

I tend to eat more when recovering as the body being in a state of injury should be more apt to distribute useful nutrients. But careful of any lack of activity, most poeple just overheat and end up fat.

Thanks.
That's what I was thinking. Pretty much common sense, really, just wondered.
