ON Whey Cellmass MM and No xplode *specific questions
Ok, so Ive spent the better part of a week reading through these forums and the BodyBuilding.com forums and Ive narrowed down what supplements I want to order but I've got a few specific questions that I havent been able to find answers too.
The first one is simple. What the is cellmass exactly? Ive been able to gather that its CEE and some sort of transport system but Im confused as to why so many people on these forums recomend it when so many people also say that 1) creatine monohydrate is a more proven form of creatine, and 2) most creatine mixes are just a way for companies to pick you pocket and youre better off just mixing your creatine with juice. So whats different about cellmass? For the record, I have read the products description on several retailers sites and they all blather on about "kicking down the door to freakish strength by maximizing ... blah blah". Seriously, read the product descriptions on GNCs site. This also applies to the next product, NO.
Back when I was in HS and still taking creatine and protein, NO didnt exist so Im a bit out of the loop on this one. Im leaning towards not purchasing it simply because the majority of the remotely scientific information Ive seen on it seems to argue there is no evidence that it does anything other than increase vascularity. The reason Im still interested in it is because so many users rave about it increasing their motivation and focus. This is of interest to me because I lift immediately after my exhausting job. Here again though, Ive seen a number of skeptical posters argue this is a combination of placebo, getting pscyhed about transient pumps, and the fact that some NO products include caffine.
The big question I have in all of this is why is ON 100% whey so highly touted on these boards. Some of their claims are impressive, particuarly the fact that such a high percentage of each serving is protein rather than filler. However, the one thing that bothers me is they seem to be pulling the great supplement scam of having a "blend" product wherein they have some great quality proteins but they are part of large blend of lesser quality proteins. Sure they have whey protein isolate and hydrolyzed whey, but theyre an undefined part of a blend that includes :
# Microfiltered Whey Protein Isolates
# Ion-Exchange Whey Protein Isolates
# Ultrafiltered Whey Protein Concentrate
# HydroWhey® Hydrolyzed Whey Peptides
The crappy GNC protein my family got me does the same thing. Sure, its got whey protein isolate, but its likely a small part of a greater blend including cheaper milk and egg proteins.
So basically, does anyone know what the ratios of the blend are? Are my fears unfounded and whey protein concentrate is fine ( out of the four I dont know much about concentrate)?
- two small adendums, would it be worth it to blend bulk hydrolyzed whey to this at some time in the future or do slower absorbing proteins slow faster ones?
Also, is really worth it do find some malodextrose and dextrose to mix in for PWO or would eating a banna get me similar results?
Lastly, is muscle milk really worth its vastly inflated price over plain whey forumulas? $30 gets me 15 servings of MM whereas $32 gets me 72 servings of ON whey. Im willing to splurge and all but this is a big difference. Is it worth it or should I just throw some Jiffy and whole milk in with my regular protein before bed? Im looking to put on a about 15 pounds (yes Im eating according to the stickies) so the extra calories are fine with me.
My reason for the detailed questions in I live in freaking Japan where my only option is Weider brand stuff which Im pretty sure is crap + I have to have my family purchase and ship the stuff to me in bulk so I cant afford to experiment alot.
Thanks for any help or advice and for some of the other tremendously informative threads posted in this subforum.
