Icon11 What weight should I go for?

I will just state the facts and my questions below.

Facts
-6'4
-170lbs
-Average/Low BF% (don't have an actual number)
-Striking/Ground N' Pound Style

Story
-Been doing MMA for about 2 months, been gaining muscle losing fat and staying at 170lbs. It's real slow but to lose/gain healthy I can live with that. A guy at the gym suggested I cut to 150lbs. I never thought about that, I have thought about gaining though. At 170 I've got good strength and muscular endurance. I'm stronger than the other guys that are around 170.

**I want to start training for a fight that is coming up in a few months**

Questions
Should I cut to 150?...I don't want to lose my strength and endurance, but I'd have a HUGE height advantage
Should I stay at 170?...I still have a little fat to get rid of but I could still have a height advantage
Should I try to gain/bulk up?...I've thought about it, but not sure

If you can naturally stay at 170 without much effort, and succeed, then stay..if it's slightly harder move to LW

after you do well at WW, gain some muscle slowly and move to MW

Naturally I can stay at 170 easy. I've started working out a lot more now though so I could easily cut to 150 I think. I just don't want to be a lanky, muscle-less string-bean if I do cut

Cory Hill?

Put on some muscle so you don't go breaking your brittle bones when you hit someone.

What makes you think this is an appropriate questions for this forum? None of us are in any position to advise you on this. It depends on numerous and, for the most part, personal factors that you have to make choices about. Cutting and gaining weight are legitimate D&S topics...deciding whether or not to cut or gain is not.
