I'm a few years removed from my Ph.D. in biochemistry, so I'll wait for KK and MM to weigh in.

Beta-alanine is definitely a supplement of interest, and I'd love to see some independent tests at appropriate dosages by athletic individuals.

Like BCAA's, taurine, cit malate, availability in bulk powders offers thrift but unpalatability is an issue. I haven't run the numbers, but I imagine Beta-7 runs near $50 a month at the higher end of use. That's a good chunk of change for something that isn't food.

I will be keeping my total calories within small deviance from my usual diet, but will be adding 40-50g BCAA peri-workout, and 20g on non-trianing days. That's also $50 a month, but buying in bulk at Wal-mart provides the funds for experimentation, so I'm going to test a supplement that I've argued in the past is an inefficient use of tight funds.

Who wants to guinea pig Beta-7?

I'm very curious about your experiment with BCAA's. I hope that you'll post the results. How long is your trial period going to be? I assume that every thing else will remain constant in your diet and training? 50g is a big whack... you aren't fucking around that's for sure.

I am attempting to maintain normalcy in my training and diet.
I rarely go +/- 350 cals diet wise. My macros will be consistent with previous training.
Ideally, addition of BCAA will be the only change, but should recovery increase, my training volume will increase.

Off days I'll do 2x10g, one upon waking, 10g pre-recovery cardio. WO days I'll do 10 waking, 10 pre, 10 during, 10 post. I'll also have my regular PWO shake when I get out of the shower.

I will be lifting 1-2x weekly, boxing 3-5x weekly, and grappling 2x weekly, as I have been doing in the past.

Supplementation beyond BCAA will be whey, creatine, multi, and AC vinegar (started due to thread here, now I like the taste of all things). The only dietary change is a push for more vegetables, like the vile weed broccoli, into my diet.

I'm using Extend+bulk powder.
