Never did that, but I used to walk in my sleep while dreaming I was at practice. There's nothing quite like waking up under your coffee table. I only did it during wrestling season.

I've been thinking we needed something like this. I would have started it, but I have WAY more questions then answers.
Thanks Envy, you're the shit.

91/2 lbs? That's still pretty good. I'm 5lbs over, so I'm going to give this a shot, and hopefully won't need to do any crazy carb cutting or sauna stuff.
What was your carb intake for the last 5 days? We'll be doing light training all the way up to the day before the weigh-ins.

here is an absolutely great link I found with an interview with John Berardi and Mike Fry, authors of The Grappler's Guide to Sports Nutrition.

Then diet is even more important. You should remain within 5 pounds of your weight class. You don't get to cheat on weekends, you can't go out and drink, and you need to monitor fluctuations in your weight like a hawk. You need to know roughly how much weight you lose during practice, and how much you lose overnight.
Follow the the same diet recommendations for the day before/of when you have a weekend meet. When you have a weekday meet, follow the same dietary strategy as the day before. Depending on when the weigh-ins are, you may need to adjust your eating schedule. And as always, added cardio is a must.
Remember, you want to lose fat, preferably permanently, not gaining and losing the same 5 pounds of water over and over again. Diet and exercise baby, diet and exercise. Lose that 10 pounds of pudge over the next month or so you don't have to worry about it anymore.

I am within 11 lbs of my weight class and my first meet is a week from Wednesday. I figure the first 1-3 cuts won't be all that fun but after that I should be just fine.

Iam eating tuna salad now with water I had 1 1\2 eggs today. I usually snack on some mixed cereal and have salad for dinner.

You'll be fine. I've noticed that after a long, hot shower, I'm usually a half a pound lighter. It also feels pretty damn good.

I got a little confused here and I gotta ask...Is this for wrestlers during season who compete in meets weekly or fighters who get a fight every 1-3 months?

Both. The only real difference is time between competitions. That's why wrestlers need to stay within 5-10 pounds of their target weight during the season, while a fighter can shed between 15-20 before a fight if he has enough time.
To boil it down, this thread is about cutting weight without having to dehydrate yourself. First lose fat, then lose weight, and hopefully you'll never have to starve or dehydrate yourself.
