Awesome thread, im new to Sherdog and I have a weight problem, thanks alot. I used to think less water and more cardio with sweat and all was good.
I don't know how i'm going to work the diet plan though but i'll try, I live in a Vietnamese family so our diet is predominantly based on white rice.

Careful. The thread isn't really for weight "problems," it's for cutting a certain amount of weight before a specific date/competition. The diet part (Berardi principles) are good as a general rule, but the water weight loss isn't meant to be part of a long-term routine.
Water weight comes back, body fat is where you need to dedicate your time.

I have been reading a lot in regards to drinking 2-3 gallons of water about a week out from when you start sauna work in a effort to flush your system.
In here it says to drop to a gallon or so 3 days out.
Now assuming I may have to cut a few lbs I will most likely cut the night before (friday night) so should I continue drinking 2-3 gallons of water up until friday morning/thursday evening? Or should I stop 3 days out?
I have a fight in 9 days so if anyone has that answer or some info on that please share as soon as you can, thanks guys!

Ok, I've been browsing through trying to find why exactly one would want distilled water.
A buddy of mine is fight on Friday and is drinking tons of water, but just regular. I asked if it was distilled, he said "No," and I knew it should be, but kinda hard to tell someone that if you don't know why.
So, why?
Edit:
Nevermind, I found it.

Good question I am curious as well.
Also I answered my own question above I drank 2+ gallons for a week all the way up until Thursday (weighed in saturday) in which I switched to 1 gallon of distilled water, then friday I had no water well a sip here and there.
I followed this thread and friday 6/5 I was 180 lbs started my water the day before followed the thread didn't eat much I weighed in saturday 6/13 at a 166 lbs, I overcut only because friday night 6/12 I sat in the hot tub/sauna for a few minutes..... this thread is very good information.

Great thread. I'd like to vouch for the 2 gallons a day method. I made my diet very strict and ate very little to no carbs on my last week. I drank 2 gallons the 5th, 4th and 3rd day before the weigh in and one gallon the 2nd day before (today). I was 162 in the morning at the beginning of the week and now I'm 153 tonight with another whole day before the weigh in. I have to weigh 150 Saturday morning for my tournament which shouldn't be a problem, then compete on Sunday.
The whole process has sucked hard but it works. Luckily not many tournaments have retarded weight classes like this one so I won't have to do it much. I much prefer 160 and under divisions.
