1) Most people refer to ACV because it is viewed as the most palatable choice for shots. I personally shoot whatever kind of vinegar is on hand. Gets me great looks in public.

2) Dunno. Many people are foolish.

3) I once added several ounces to diet cherry coke, which tastes like something obnoxious and leaves a horrible aftertaste. The ACV made it taste leagues better. Then I added too much ACV in and it started to hurt. Right, I'm not too brainy.

4) I have not really noticed any beneficial effects due to its usage other than the heat sensation and elimination of bad aftertastes of other foods/products. However, I must state that I have not monitored myself to specifically observe the effects of additional vinegar supplementation.

It probably doesn't matter at at, since the study isolated acetic acid. ACV, like TopCat said, is just more palatable. There's opinions that ACV actually has a negative PRAL versus regular white vinegar having a positive PRAL, but in the amounts used in a daily diet, I think the point is moot.

The most obvious timing would be PWO, since it is all about glycogen repletion. I would have thought this would be an obvious answer.

Why? If it's in your PWO shake, then there's plenty of carbs (or should be) in there already.

It's a staple in my PWO shakes. It's not a miracle supplement, but none are. But based on the science at hand, I see no reason not to add it in.

Mike, I'm pretty sure he was referring to taking it with or without food, independent of the time of day. That's how I read it, at least.

Ah, perhaps. I may have just misread that.

Scott from The Modern Forager just posted an article on ACV here.

In his article, he cites a study of vinegar improving insulin sensitivity. (study can be found here) Looks like the same mechanism is at work here as with the initial study Madmick posted.

You could measure it out and mix it in with your PWO shake (make sure you put your milk or water in first... you don't want a glob of ACV protein on your tongue). Way that I find works best for me is a shot glass and chase it with the shake.

I mix it 1:3 with water and drink it first thing PWO. It's fairly awful at first but it does get better with time, to the point where now I rather enjoy it.

And have you (or anyone for that matter) had any noticeable changes?

I mean with the top supps, you can notice a difference - fish oil, BA, creatine, etc.

So for those who have been taking this for a while, anything good happening?
