Eades about The China Study
I came accross this and think some will be interested, particularly the low-carb motivators in here...
Health & Nutrition by Michael R. Eades, M.D. » Another China study
*It just goes to show how there are complete opposites for every story.

The pure results don't seem that startling to me. Eat more of anything = get more calories = potential to gain weight (fat).
I guess the crux was that the researchers were liberal in their interpretation of the data. Seems like they were victimized by the American mentality according to the author. X is good, therefore more of X is better.

Btw you didn't actually send this to me, You send me some bullshit from another site..which was in a completely different direction.
I at least respect the ts's opinion that there is two sides to the story, and you should judge both sides before making an informed decisions about your beliefs on the issue. This is all I've been trying to prove all along.

"No research has examined the association between obesity and a diet rich in fruits and vegetables in China."
Only thing that needs to be said from this article.
Not sure but this article might be a little bit biased, I've never met a fat person who has a diet rich in vegetables and fruits and works out regularly.
I respect that you're presenting me your side of the story, but you might need to look at both sides and formulate an opinion off that.
my friend actually switched to this diet a month ago and he's lost quite a bit of weight since..Quite to contrary to what this research is presenting..so Like i said I'm a little skeptical of the evidence behind this.
I'm sure it's possible for studies to indicate that some of these people are getting more obese. But I think it's impossible for somebody who is on this diet / works out regularly to become obese.
What they are doing is picking a hand full of people that are obese, and happen to be vegetarian..When in reality, there was just as many healthy vegetarians ..and big vegetable / fruit eaters..that didn't get picked for this study.
Like i said, Theres two sides to a story.
Like i said, you never know..the study obviously wasn't conducted on every person with this diet..and more than likely, ones that were obese were the ones conducted for this study..even when there was probably just as many of them that were very healthy.
In my experience..I don't think I've ever seen an obese vegetarian who works out regularly / gets adequate nutrition.

So why are you calling people here hypocrites when you preach a vegan diet and don't even follow one? Why do you eat meat? Because according to you, that will clog your arteries and kill you.

Health reasons? I've known only one true vegan who ate only fruits, vegetables, and nuts(no vitamins) and he was hospitalized after 9 weeks because of a B12 deficiency. Do you know where this vitamin is abundant? Meat. Could this be a hint that we're suppose to eat it? His doctor also said he was sodium deficient which is of no surprise considering the lack of sodium in vegetation. I wonder why we even have hydrochloric acid in our stomachs if we're not suppose to eat meat. It's just there to look good right? Because we all know that herbivores don't have it. There is one problem with the Lipid Hypothesis and that is that it's never been proven. It's still a hypothesis after god knows how many years. And it's basically as stupid as saying that we shouldn't eat any salt because we already have it in our bodies.

So a person decides to watch what they eat and he loses some weight? Amazing. He could have been eating Pizza and Oreos for all I know.

There are plenty of ectomorphs that can't get fat eating 5000 calories of McDonald's cheeseburgers a day. Why would this be any different for an ectomorph that watches what they eat?
