True Protein
So, for me, the most viable option is to get, from True Protein, a separate Whey with flavor, Dextrose, and Maltodextrin. What I want to know is, in order to make a PWO shake, and PeriWO shake, should I order the Dext/Malto with any sort of sweetener? Are they bitter or anything like that? Silly questions, and I'm going to have them no matter how horrible they are, but the better they taste, well, the better.
Also, my Grappler's Guide by Berardi is on it's way, but I don't know how long it will take, so what should I be drinking/eating before BJJ? This whole "healthy" sport thing is new to me.

I ordered it with stevia, since mad mick suggests it in his thread for health reasons. If you want I would get a premium citrus flavor I got chocolate and if you look at the thread below this about true protein by theNuge I describe it as vile. If you can deal with it whatever, i just do.
Also rather than dextrose/maltodextrin you can try waxy maize starch as it is supposed to be really good and rapidly is uptaken as it bypasses the stomach (I think it describes it better on true protein).
EDIT- Orange belt sweet

Maltodextrin from the True Protein website:
Quote:
|
Maltodextrin has a very bland taste, very little sweetness if any. Maltodextrin easily dissolves into many different liquids and needs no blender or shaker to be palatable.
|
Dextrose from the True Protein website:
Quote:
|
Dextrose has a sweet taste similar to table sugar (sucrose), but does not posess the sweetner strength of sucrose. Dextrose is about 20% less sweet. Dextrose easily mixes and dissolves in any liquid and needs no blending or vigorous shaking to be palatable.

I am more interested in personal experiences than what a supplement site devoid of the human sense of taste thinks.
Would stevia be good in just the Malto? Or should I just do both.

Dextrose is very sweet. I wouldn't add anything. Malto... yeah, I suppose. Personally, I'd just order it all pre-mixed w/ whatever flavor you choose and then you don't have to worry about sweeteners.
By the way, waxy maize starch is far, far superior to dextrose/malto.

But fatty, I need to have PeriWO and PWO shakes mixable. I'm actually currently trying to find out if it'd be cheaper to buy Mix + Whey separate, or all the ingredients of the mix separate.

Getting custom mixes are a waste of money, just buy normal whey and add gatorade powder or ice tea mix. It is cheaper and you get all the post work out cards you need. As for pre work out, just add oatmeal to whey.

Forget everything. I'm just going to buy Madmick's Mix (tongue twister) and finish off the poor quality chalky whey I have left over at home.
BUT, one of my original questions still stands; what kind of shake should I be drinking before/during BJJ/etc.?
Food tips are good too, I usually just go with a banana, b-a, fish oil, a piece of 9 grain toast, and some meat.

TBH I think I would have a harder time convincing my parents to get me just plain whey over a mix. They would say "don't we have that?" then I'd have to explain the differences in quality etc.
