Training With Crohn's Diease
I was Diagnosed with Crohn's disease two years ago, I had already been learning martial arts for a few years, but when i was diagnosed I was forced to alter my diet and concentrate and getting healthy again.
Now that I'm healthy and put my disease into remission, I started training again and have noticed I can't tolerate protein shakes or strong supplements anymore. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on alternative things to use. I can't eat red meat, just a side note, so nothing like "eat steak for protein" that won't help me
Thanks for any help ahead of time

Yeah, but I need to put something more into my body, need to put some weight back on, already on six meals a day, I put a lot of carbs in, trying to add some weight.
I Lost nearly 90 pounds and was under 100 pounds at one point, I'm still hovering around 130, trying to get back near 165-170. Not seeming to work without any kind of supplements, I put weight back on pretty quick once I started on proteins again, but my stomach can't tolerate it

Weight-loss is part of your disease. I guess for starters, what are you eating now? What is your diet? Do you like milk?

Milk is not the best idea for folks with Crohn's.
As in most things, every person with crohn's is different in regards to the foods they tolerate, but there are certain things that you can identify as common problem foods.

I thought about that, but like you said, everyone is different. That's why I asked.

Weight loss can be cause by Crohn's disease if your body doesn't absorb the nutrients from food, my body has a hard time breaking down things like red meat and meat in general and converting it into something I can use, which is the main reason I haven't been able to get back to my natural weight. I can't drink milk, another effect of the disease, I'm lactose intolerant. Which is why I'm really looking for something that is pure protein and that is somewhat easy on my stomach.
As far as my diet now, I eat a lot fish, mostly fresh water fish, it's hard to get anything from the ocean in Michigan. I eat turkey, mostly lean ground turkey and chicken. I also eat everything with a bowl of some sort of pasta or rice, and usually breads. I drink mostly water,no Gatorade or anything like that. I'm not supposed to eat nuts. Pepper and spices are a no go also, but that all just adds to flavor isn't really adding to any nutrition. I eat six times a day religiously, never miss a meal, all of them are decent portions

Have you tried lactose free whey?
I don't have anything as severe as crohn's but I have some GI issues I deal with and when they act up bad I usually switch to lactose free whey with almond milk.

have you tried eliminating fiber and carbs from your diet?
Fats help the digestive system where fiber tears it up while passing through undigested. I recommend coconut oil to supplement/add to your cooking, you can get it in health sections of supermarkets, and amazon has it cheap.
