Too many vitamins?

I have hypermobility and after learning that people with hypermobility stand a greater chance of early onset osteoarthritis, osteoperosis and generally suffer higher rates of impingement, sprains, tears and pulled muscles, I have started to take supplements to ensure my joints are as healthy as can be.

Every day I take:

4500 mg of Glucosamine sulfate

3600 mg of Chondroitan sulfate

1500 mg of MSM

2000 mg of Omega -3 fish oils

1000 mg of vitamin C

I have noticed no ill affects in the past week while taking these vitamins but I thought it would be good to hear your opinions on whether or not this is too much?

The only vitamin you are taking is vitamin C. The rest are not vitamins though they are supplements.

It is common for people to take the first 4 you listed for joint health.

Everyone takes vitamin C.

You are fine.

Did you get a diagnosis by a physician, physiotherapist, or chiropractor? It's fairly rare for an adult to have generalized hypermobility; it can happen in small digit joints, but most people grow out of it.

Though I have not been fully diagnosed by a rheumatologist, when i went to physical therapy they said i was a little bendy... I can move my fingers further than most people can but not as far as some people with hypermobility can.

For the most part I dont have the chronic pain that is associated with HMS. I feel a little achey, my joints move around funny and i hear clicking and ligaments moving around and shifting around but its more of a nuisance than a cause of severe pain. I believe that I'm more of the "loose type" rather than the "chronic dislocations and subluxation type who have to wear braces just to walk". I am pretty young so hopefully it wont get TERRIBLY worse as i age..

I actually think that i might be growing out of it though..I've been noticing my fingers were feeling uncomfortable to move around and i thought perhaps i was getting LOOSER until i noticed that it only hurt after i moved it to a certain point...as in it only hurt if i moved too far wihich was GREAT considering i used to tweak my fingers all the time just doing things like zipping up my pants lol..

As for the larger joints...I can't do any double jointed tricks like dislocations or anything but i can move them a little bit out of the joint if i wanted to (painless) and they feel a little more "wobbly" but nothing like dislocations, sprained knees from getting out of bed or anything like that.

thanks alot for your replies guys

It can and it can't be. Hypermobility is simply loose joints. If you take care of yourself, dont over exert yourself, than you're biggest fear is simply overuse injuries. People tend to get osteoarthritis earlier with hypermobility but this all depends on how severe it is and how well you take care of yourself.

Hypermobility can also be linked to a genetic disease called Ethlers Donlos. This disease creates faulty collagen which affects everything from ligamens, bones, cartiledge, hair, eyes, skin, organs.

So if i'm lucky I just need to do some more joint specific strength training and take plenty of supplements. If not, than I stand a chance of anuerisms, chronic pain, bleeding gums/organs, inability to heal well and other such crap. Even though i have some symptoms of EDS (myopia, high palette, calcified bumps on shins and forearms) I never seemed to have a problem healing. I've broken bones, sprained ankles, cut myself up pretty bad and never have a problem with the healing process. My heart gets a little jumpy sometimes when i get up too fast but that has more to do with the fact i'm close to 100 lbs over weight :-X
