three days from competition, and I'm sick :(

Sorry to whine publicly, but this is frustrating as well.

I've spent the last month getting down from 142 to 134 for a BJJ tournament this Saturday. With a lot of help from the people in this forum and their recommendations, I tipped the scales at 135 earlier this week despite suboptimal conditions (I was away on business for two weeks). I was so proud of myself and totally jacked about competing.

However since I've gotten back it's one thing after another. The first day I had diarrhea. I had that for two days and lost a ton of fluid in my poop and just generally felt dehydrated. At some point I shot some vinegar and the diarrhea stopped. Yay. I still wasn't really feeling well enough to go to BJJ, so I went to a hot yoga class. The yoga class was very, very tough and I felt dizzy walking out of there.

The next morning I felt feverish and just general blah. And over the last 36 hours or so it's just getting worse. This morning I woke up with a fever of just under 102. I've simultaneously got chills and feel hot; my body hurts just from sitting up, I just generally feel fuckin awful. At this rate I don't see myself being able to outgrapple a spastic 8-year-old, much less a grown adult who is skilled in making my limbs bend in ways they're not supposed to go.

Even if I do feel better by Saturday, I'm still going to have lost a ton of strength from being sick a full week and I won't be competing at 100%. That pisses me off because I really feel like I worked hard and deserved better

I do however want to take this opportunity to thank everyone in the D&S forum. Through reading the stickies (and sublinks from stickies) and searching through all the old posts I've found a wealth of information about anything I would ever possibly want to know about diet and nutrition. I had held so many misconceptions about dieting and losing weight and the information here has been invaluable. I would never have made the weight in the first place if it wasn't for you guys, so thanks to everyone.

Consistantly bathe.

I know it sounds weird, but whenever I'm sick and I get the cold-sweats, I take a shower and change my clothes. Eat warm soups in bed and watch movies. Do some light stretching, and keep all volumes to a minimum.

Works for me.

If it makes ye feel any better the same thing's happened to me! Well not the liquid poop, but I've got a shitty cold since monday and I''m competing in amateur mma on saturday.

I'll be fine to fight and all but it's a bit shit feeling run-down the week before the fight. I'd been training hard up until last sunday - rolling, sparring, bagwork, doing sprints, conditioning etc - but I don't wanna make anyone else who's competing sick so I've avoided rolling with them the last few days.

Hey Conor, good luck on Saturday. Gotta have been very tough for you not to be able to train this week.

Crap, just stepped on the scales at 132! So I've lost 3 pounds almost assuredly all muscle, in the last week. Now part of the plan.

colds dehydrate you, thats why doctors always say 'get some fluids, and lots of rest' so don't assume it is all muscle mate.

It is crazy the number of fighters that get sick a week or two out from their fights.

Hey, this is a bit of a shot in the dark, but do you train at Universal? I think I recognise your screen name from the universal board.
