These supplements, do they suck?

I googled the Pro-vit thing, and only found bullshit. Nothing about the precise composition. So here I am, thinking you gurus might enlighten me.

But first, a little story.

A friend of mine went to GNC because I was telling him NO-Explode might be a supplement he wants to try to assist his strength training. When he got there, the clerk told him to stay away from it. Instead, my friend left from the store with a box of Strive Pro-vit and a bottle of L-Arginine. He already has some creatine and whey at home, so the basics are already covered.

I have two questions for you :

1) Is Pro-vit any good? I know it has some solid stuff like fish oil and BCAA's, but it also contains stuff I don't know about. My guess is : buying the stuff separately must be cheaper. But I'd like to know the precise composition, and know what's good about the less common stuff in it.

2) I want to know how often, how much and when he should take the L-Arginine. The pills are 1000mg each, the guy told him to take 3 a day. I wondered if that was bullshit, like creatine loading, and should only be taken on workout days, or if taking it on rest days was also useful.

Thanks guys

Ah, come on, guys.

I just used the search function for the Arginine thing. The verdict seems to be that Arginine is not so useful, and that, if it is, mega-dosing is the way to go.

See? I've been a good boy.

But with respect to the Pro-vit, I don't have access to the box, I don't know exactly what's in it. Strive's website itself doesn't seem to list it. It just goes on about the standard bullshit supplement manufacturers usually rave about.

Anybody has a good site where the ingredients might be listed?

I don't think many people in here use/have used the Strive Pro-Vits. There was a thread a while ago, but it didn't receive too much activity.
I have used them for a three month period a while ago. I think, as far as multi's go, i is a solid product. The BCAAs and Arginine in them are pretty inconsequential at the doses they come in, but they do provide good antioxidant support, vitamins, minerals and fish oil.
However, I am not convinced that the product is superior to a greens product for achiving the same ends. A greens product would be cheaper, and may even be better.

As for Arginine, it has been discussed at length on this forum that it is pretty much a scam, when used for achieving "pumps". Apparently there are some other health benefits, but if a pump is what you are looking for, then its all about carbs from my understanding.

So no, the products don't suck. But you may find something better for your goals.
