Protein Intake Question

Ok I read old posts etc and it is recommended to take whey right after workout and stuff like muscle milk before u sleep because of the casein or whatever for the slow break down.

Now I take BJJ nightly 2-3 hours and get home around 10 where I am ready to crash out. Would just taking muscle milk be suffient enough for recovery? Or would I need the whey for the faster asborption rate? Does my body need to absorb all that protein right away in order to actually help my recovery or will the casein based products have the same effect at a slower rate?

I would say to bring a shaker with you to BJJ with some whey in it. Right after you're done training, down that. Right before you crash, have some cottage cheese or muscle milk. I don't know if this would be the best thing to do, but this is what I would do in this situation. How long between finishing training and going to bed?

I might be mistaken, but I am pretty sure MuscleMilk has some whey in it. But I do not know if it has a whole lot or enough for a PWO. Someone else needs to help you out who knows better than I do.

I'll go look real quick, but both seems like a bit much.

well i can't find the break down anywhere, i know more experienced users would know. But either drink they whey a little before you are done, then mm before bed. Or you could mix the whey and mm, but i dont know how much whey is in mm.

This has worked for me big time as I have seen gains, 1 scoop a hour before BJJ/Boxing/M.Thai and 1 scoop before a hour passes after class, both of whey or whey/casein blends like Syntha6 or MM. As far as before bed, casein is MADE as a before bed shake so if you have the cash that is far better, if you crash right away I say blends is better since the whey will be absorbed quick while the casein will breakdown overnight.

it half/half as is Syntha 6, casein will slowly be digested over a long period of time so thats why its a pref. before bed drink.
