Subway, Quiznos, Potbellys sandwiches

Is the Jared Subway diet good for losing weight? I assume it is, but it it healthy in the long run? The sodium contained in these sandwich shop products seems excessively high. I'm considering restricting my diet to only one footlong sandwich each day (tuna, turkey, veggie, roast beef, steak, chicken). Would this be a healthy and effective diet plan? Could it lead to health problems?

I also plan to ramp up my running and swimming.

What kind of diet do lower weight boxers adhere to, they seem to always be very lean which is what i'm aiming for.

5. Ensure that 25-35% of your energy intake comes from fat, with your fat intake split equally between saturates (e.g. animal fat), monounsaturates (e.g., olive oil), and polyunsaturates (e.g. flax oil, salmon oil).

7. Eat mostly whole foods (except workout and post-workout drinks).
Base any diet around these principles and I guarantee you'll lean up without even trying. Once you've got your basics down, THEN you can start tweaking things for further gains. But for 99% of people, getting these basics down will lead to getting leaner and more muscular (yes, at the same time.).

It's an outstanding diet for losing weight... in the form of mucle and bone and devoloping health problems. Do you really want to lose weight and look like that wanker Jared?

Avoid the excessive bread. Their garbage bread is made from heavily processed flours. These grains are very inflammatory and have a pretty high acid-load (high PRAL); this can cause muscle and bone washing (losses of Ca and glutamine to buffer acid and increase blood pH). Couple that with a lack of veggies and you are asking for acid load problems.

They also have a disgustingly shitty selection of veggies. It sits in bags for who knows how long before sitting out exposed to air for who knows how long. I can only imagine how low the micronutrient content is, and you certainly don't get enough servings of a good variety of veggies from them.

Their olive oil is pure, at best. You want extra virgin. Your other choices for fats are poor saturateds from their crappy meats, and whatever other dressings they have, like soybean oil in their ranch. I suppose soybean oil isn't so bad, but not packaged in ranch or their other choices.

Their sandwiches have very little protein and fat. You want a lot of these things. Protein for amino acids to build/maintain muscle, produce hormones, generate new cells/tissues, etc. An even spread of fats because of the vital role they play in cellular regulation, micronutrient absorption, test production, ****bolism, etc.

Don't buy into the high sodium thing, either. With a good diet you will be taking in enough water and K to allow the body to properly regulate and excrete excessive amounts of Na. This is assuming you don't already have some kind of outstanding condition involving blood pressure or electrolytic balance. In that case... get advice from a doctor.

Read the FAQ and learn the 7 Habits. Develop a solid base using those rules and an appropriate amount of food for your particular goal.
